SPARKS, Nev. Feb. 5, 2018 – Sierra Nevada Corporation (SNC) and its partner Embraer Defense & Security are proud to participate in the U.S. Air Force’s continued experimentation of light attack aircraft, that was announced Friday, Feb. 2. Following is a response from Taco Gilbert, SNC Senior Vice President of ISR, Aviation and Security (IAS).

“The U.S. Air Force has always proven itself an excellent partner and we have every confidence that it will continue to do so throughout the remaining OA-X experimentation period. We concur with the Air Force’s decision to shift OA-X experimentation back to the U.S., as the A-29 is already engaged daily in combat in different environments globally, proving its mettle without the need for further demonstration and expenditure on that front. The A-29, chosen by 13 air forces, has flown more than 40,000 combat hours in Afghanistan and around the world, and we look forward to the opportunity to showcase its other superior capabilities, particularly with regard to seamless integration into the USAF network.  We are confident that the USAF will find that the American-built A-29 is not only a first-rate combat aircraft, but is a great value to the U.S. taxpayer in the savings it generates in training and combat, and in the extension it provides to the service lives of fighters.”
